A Short Story Starring Me

I went home for lunch today and on my way down, I’m on the 25th floor, the elevator stops on the 23rd. There was a woman waiting, standing and talking when the doors opened (but not getting on)… and as the doors start to close she approaches, I do the fake reach to stop the doors from closing and she hops on.

Me being my normal jovial self “Oh, this is going up”

She glances at the direction and laughs out loud in flirty woman “boy you so crazy” laughter.

We chop it up about the recent water leak in the building that kept us out and home for two weeks, the damage and a shared concern about mold.

She is very pleasing to look at.

Note: I got a haircut yesterday.

The elevator is slow to reach the lobby — She is smiling a lot while she talks looking lovingly in my eyes.

We get down to the lobby and she lingers while staring, we both walk away awkwardly without saying anything.

She goes one way, I go the other only to meet at the elevators for the parking garage.

I say “It’s you and me again” she laughs (again) in flirty woman “boy you so crazy” laughter and says “Yep”

She lingers while getting off on garage level 4, I was on 6 — She smiles, I smile back and say enjoy the rest of the day, as I watch her walk away.

Her body language speaks poetry I could never write.

I should have asked her name.

Next time… since I’m bad at goodbyes I’ll put all my stock in hello.

I Am
