A Fair Trade

I been losing friends and finding peace. Honestly, that sounds like a fair trade to me.

Losing Friends

Y’all know my thoughts on this… I don’t argue, I don’t ponder, I move on as I’m sure they do.

Understand and accept that relationships sometimes end. Just walk away, don’t scream, don’t bite, don’t slash tires, don’t have their power turned off, don’t use their credit card to purchase a vacation to Africa and surely don’t use their social security number to open an account with Verizon & then use "their" new iPhone to prank call them.

I Am not a psychotherapist. I imagine a therapist being skillful at penetrating the defenses of their clients, empathize with them, but not letting them hide behind their defenses. As an example, someone who feels rejected by others may, as a defense, want to reject (or hate) those others in return. Blaming others for your own painful feelings is a defense, designed to hide your collusion in your own suffering. Individuals who are sensitive to feeling rejected need to consider how they're compelled to feel rejection and go looking for it. Painful though it is, we compulsively re-enact whatever is unresolved in our soul.

Finding Peace

We can’t control what others do or say, we can control our reaction to them. Disengage and spend time orbiting around people who value who you are exactly as you exist in each unfolding moment. Someone who will challenge you without insulting or demeaning you.

I will refrain from personal attacks on living souls who disagree with me. Things like name calling, characterizing, sarcasm, derision, and imputing disreputable motives to them.
